Volumetric measurement of maxillary sinus volume by MDCT

Background: An in-depth knowledge of the physiology upper respiratory tract, as well developmental, clinical, and imaging anatomy maxillary sinus-in particular its relationship to dentition, nose, ethmoid frontal sinuses-is necessary for appreciating sinus's part in both health disease. To this end, study sought validate MDCT a volumetric tool assessing sinus size. Material methods: The volume sinuses was evaluated by using 140 patients. CT head pictures were viewed via DICOM viewing software, an internal electronic calliper used measure sinuses. data analysed t-test independent samples discriminant function analysis. Results: Over course study, adults took part. Right mean estimated volumes ranged from 13.89 cm3 patients aged 18-30 years, 15.87 31-40 16.56 41-50 15.88 Patients 51-60 16.45 60 over. value right greatest age group 41–50, lowest 18–30. between ages 18 30 had left 13.70 cm3, those 31 40 15.82 41 50 16.50 51 15.52 above 15.90 cm3. There significant difference 41-50. Conclusion: present concluded that analysis may be useful identification paranasal adjacent structures.
